Privacy Networks Readies
for Next Step Toward Integrated Email Integrity
PRNewswire
Jan 10, 2006
FORT COLLINS, Colo., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ Privacy Networks,
a provider of email integrity software, today announced it
has completed a number of activities in line with its drive
to deliver next-generation email management solutions that,
for the first time, integrate traditional SPAM and anti-virus
capabilities together with searchable archiving for compliance
and automated encryption. Privacy Networks is ideally suited
to ISPs and MSPs looking for a single-source solution they
can offer to increase their revenues and secure new customers
in the Small- to Medium-sized Business (SMB) market.
Among the developments, the company has hired technology executive
Steven Berens as its new CEO and is actively hiring to expand
its workforce as it readies for a major company launch early
this year. The emerging growth company, which announced in
October that it received $2.4 million in first-stage funding
led by Aweida Ventures, is gearing up to capitalize on the
rapidly growing email management marketplace estimated
at more than $6 billion in 2004 with expected continuing strong
double digit growth per year, according to market research
firm International Data Corp (IDC).
Built From The Ground Up As An Integrated Email Integrity
Solution
Unlike point technologies or cobbled together open source
solutions, Privacy Networks has developed a fully integrated
suite of tools designed exclusively to manage all aspects
of enterprise email security and management requirements,
primarily for email service providers and the SMB market.
The companys solutions address the growing need for
enterprise tools that include easily searchable archiving,
encryption, and integrated anti-spam and anti-virus functionality.
To date, Privacy Networks has secured leading industry partners,
including Hewlett-Packard and a growing list of both enterprise
and managed service provider customers, to begin establishing
a solid position in the market.
"Privacy Networks has assembled a seasoned management
team and the resources necessary to leverage truly unique
solutions that address customer needs," said Dan Aweida,
general partner of Aweida Venture Partners. "Privacy
Networks is addressing a large and fast growing market opportunity
for email management systems that span from SMB to enterprise-grade
solutions."
Privacy Networks Appoints New
CEO
Steven Berens, who has a successful history of leading companies
entries into new markets, takesthe helm at Privacy Networks
after more than 20 years experience in high technology markets.
Beginning at IBM, where he led the launch of what is now the
new tape drive standard, Linear Tape Open (LTO), to building
an established market position for industry storage maverick
Benchmark Storage Innovations and, subsequently directing
strategy for Quantums storage devices, Berens knows
first-hand how the management and security of email is quickly
transcending traditional security and back-up methods.
"Email is the lifeblood of organizations today. If you
cant access it, manage it, protect it and store it securely,
you are at risk both from a legal and business perspective,"
Berens said. "This is an exciting opportunity to help
customers manage and protect their growing use of email with
a high quality, simple to manage, well-architected suite of
solutions."
In addition, Berens says that as part of the addition to the
Privacy Networks team, Todd Massey, company founder and its
first CEO, will continue as chief technology officer as well
as taking over as chairman of the board.
Hiring Ramps Up
In addition, the companys recent funding efforts are
helping it gear up for the launch of several new product additions
to its integrated email management portfolio suite in the
first half of 2006. The increased activity and operational
needs of launching have necessitated additional hiring by
Privacy Networks. New positions across the board in finance,
software development, human resources, marketing and customer
support are currently being recruited and filled.
"The team at Privacy Networks has done an outstanding
job of launching the organization," Berens noted. "The
spirit of the company and the strong vision for the future
will make it an attractive work environment in this high-growth
industry."
