Steven Berens,
President and CEO, brings more than 20 years of experience
in strategy, marketing, sales and engineering to Privacy Networks.
He has demonstrated the ability to deliver results for innovative
companies looking to address customer requirements in new,
emerging and mature markets. Berens’ solid industry
relationships, strategic insight and creativity have led to
successful market launches that focus on anticipating customer
needs and bringing timely solutions.
During his career, Berens has held key management positions
in high technology start-ups and Fortune 500 companies including
IBM, Benchmark Storage Innovations and Quantum Corporation.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Arizona and an MBA from the University
of Southern California.
Todd Massey,
Chairman and CTO, is a successful and experienced entrepreneur
with a proven track record. He honed his software development
skills in Silicon Valley, working for several leading-edge
technology companies before starting up his own business.Todd
has developed and brought to market many software products
that have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.
Before Privacy Networks, he co-founded Surefire Verification,
which he and his partners merged with Verisity Design. The
combined company was named the “Best Performing IPO
of 2001" and traded under the symbol VRST on the NASDAQ.
Verisity was subsequently purchased by Cadence Design Systems.
Bill Thorson,
Vice President of Engineering, is a guru in high performance,
high availability and cluster computing. He has 24 years experience
building and managing design and development teams that have
successfully delivered hardware and software solutions to
customers. Bill has enjoyed years of coaching girls fast-pitch
softball and has helped his daughters and others to become
serious players and to love the game.
Ted Niemann,
CFO, has more than fifteen years of experience in finance
and accounting. Most recently, Mr. Niemann was CFO of Chaparral
Network Storage, a data storage company and prior to that
was an accounting manager for publicly held Hach Company.
Ted holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Chadron State College
and a MBA from Regis University.
John
LoPorto, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing brings more than
20 years of technology sales expertise spanning various direct
and indirect go-to-market models. Most recently he was the
CEO of Breakthrough Systems Inc., a provider of embedded software
to the data storage, avionics, telecommunications and defense
industries. Mr. LoPorto has previously held various senior
executive sales and marketing positions at StorageTek, EMC
and Sun Microsystems and was also an early stage key executive
in a number of successful startup organizations including
Veritas Software which was acquired by Symantec for over $13B
and Logicraft, which was the first company to earn a position
on the prestigious Inc 500 list for three consecutive years.
Mr. LoPorto holds an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute and completed graduate business studies at Worcester
Polytechnic Institute.
